Even if the full price for the add-on including Race 07 seems too high, PC racing game fans get a lot of driving fun for their money. The famous racing feeling and the offered driving physics of this simulation are still reference class and with the new arcade mode developer Simbin makes the game much more accessible for beginners.

But realism fanatics will not keep this mode busy for long, because the heart of this racing series clearly beats in the championship mode, where you have tough duels with the AI drivers. The almost inevitable collisions you put away with it comparatively easily and therefore this mode is particularly well suited to make it easier for beginners to access GTR Evolution. In this point, the new arcade mode differs significantly: Here you can speed almost at will and regardless of losses, whatever the gas pedal has to offer. In contrast to the vehicles, the environment appears two-dimensional As soon as the suspension or even the tires are affected – both of which are affected pretty quickly – the realistic driving physics takes hold, your performance quickly goes down the drain and you can be happy when you make it to the finish line or the pits. All of this has a direct effect on the handling of the bolides. Smaller accidents and collisions with the computer-controlled adversaries inevitably lead to dents on the body and in no time you lose not only a spoiler, but also control of the vehicle. Even with ABS and other driving aids switched on, the simulation remains very demanding and requires you to drive quickly and at the same time. At the same time, if you wish, you can adjust the settings of the racing car and thus influence the behavior of your mobile pedestal.Įven with normal settings for semi-professionals, GTR Evolution, like its predecessors, hardly forgives you for a driving error. As usual, you will not only complete a separate run, but go through the entire process of a race weekend including practice laps, qualification and the two races that are usual in the WTCC (World Touring Car Championsship). Dozens of setting options allow you to design the racing series according to your taste and to adapt it with the help of different parameters such as opponent strength, different driving aids, racing distance or the weather, especially with regard to realistic conditions. For an add-on that comes at full price (but at least contains the original game), the scope is quite clear.ĭespite the new content, the focus is on the championship mode, in which veterans and realism enthusiasts in particular still get the full board. In addition to the Nürburgring including the Nordschleife, the developers are also offering 26 new cars such as the Audi R8 or the Protzer Koenigsegg CCX, and the Arcade Extreme mode, which is particularly suitable for beginners, has been implemented. About a Xillion times, and yet I can’t memorize the structure of the legendary, infamous “Green H**l”, there are just too many bends and secluded sections of the route that you usually rattle into at far too high a speed.
